“How much should I put into Google Ads?” is the first question almost every business owner asks me, and the honest answer is not a single number. How much to spend on Google Ads in Dubai depends on what a customer is worth to you, what a click costs in your industry, and how many leads your team can actually handle. The good news is that you can work it out in about ten minutes with a calculator.

I’m Mohammed Ameen, a performance marketer and PPC specialist in the UAE, based in Sharjah. I manage Google Ads and Meta Ads budgets for clinics, car businesses, online stores and hospitality brands across Dubai and Sharjah. Below is the exact method I use before I recommend a budget to any client.

Why “Just Start With AED 1,000” Usually Fails

Google Ads works by learning. Smart bidding needs conversion data to figure out which searches, times and people turn into customers. If your budget only buys 5 or 6 clicks a day, it can take months to collect enough data, and most owners give up before that happens.

On the other side, throwing AED 30,000 at a new account with no tracking is just as risky. You burn money on searches that never convert, and you can’t see where it went.

The right budget sits between those two: enough to get real data within 30 days, and no more than your sales process can turn into revenue.

How Much to Spend on Google Ads in Dubai: The 4-Step Formula

Work backwards from the customers you want, not forwards from a random number.

Step 1: Decide how many new customers you want per month

Be realistic. If your clinic can take 20 new patients a month, plan for 20, not 200.

Step 2: Work out how many leads that needs

Divide your target customers by your close rate. If your team turns 1 in 4 enquiries into a booking, a 25% close rate, you need 80 leads to get 20 customers.

Don’t guess this number. Look at last month’s WhatsApp chats, calls and form fills and count how many actually bought.

Step 3: Work out how many clicks that needs

Divide your leads by your landing page conversion rate. A decent service landing page in the UAE often converts somewhere between 5% and 10% of visitors into enquiries. At 8%, you need 1,000 clicks to get 80 leads.

Step 4: Multiply clicks by your expected cost per click

Open Google Keyword Planner (it’s free inside your Google Ads account) and search your main keywords with the location set to Dubai or the UAE. Look at the “top of page bid” low and high range. For planning, I use a number close to the middle of that range.

If your average cost per click is AED 6, then 1,000 clicks × AED 6 = AED 6,000 per month.

That’s your starting budget. Here is the whole thing in one line:

Monthly budget = (target customers ÷ close rate ÷ landing page conversion rate) × cost per click

Check the Budget Against What a Customer Is Worth

A budget only makes sense if the maths works on the other side. So before you approve any number, work out your maximum cost per customer.

Maximum cost per customer = average customer value × your profit margin

Here are two quick examples. These numbers are illustrations to show the method, not results from a client account.

Example 1: Dental clinic in Dubai

  • Average first-year value of a new patient: AED 2,000
  • Profit margin on treatment: 50%
  • Maximum you can pay to win a patient and still break even: AED 1,000

With the AED 6,000 budget above bringing in 20 patients, you are paying AED 300 per patient. That leaves plenty of room, so the budget is safe and could be scaled.

Example 2: E-commerce store in the UAE

  • Average order value: AED 250
  • Profit margin: 40%
  • Maximum cost per sale to break even: AED 100

If your cost per click is AED 2 and your store converts 2% of visitors, each sale costs AED 100 in clicks. That is exactly break-even on the first order, so you either need repeat purchases, a higher order value or a better converting product page before you scale spend.

This step is where most Google Ads budgets go wrong. People look at cost per click and forget to ask what a customer is worth.

Typical Starting Budgets I See in Dubai and Sharjah

Every account is different, but these ranges are where I usually start the conversation with SMB clients:

Business typeTypical starting Google Ads budget per month
Local service in one area (car repair, salon, cleaning)AED 3,000 to AED 5,000
Clinics and healthcareAED 6,000 to AED 12,000
Car dealers and showroomsAED 8,000 to AED 15,000
Real estate, high-value servicesAED 10,000 and up
E-commerce (Search plus Shopping)AED 5,000 to AED 10,000

Competitive categories like real estate and healthcare cost more because many advertisers in Dubai are bidding on the same searches. If you are in one of those, the formula above matters even more.

These figures are ad spend only. Management is a separate cost. Many UAE agencies charge a percentage of ad spend or a flat monthly fee, and freelancers are often cheaper because they don’t carry agency overheads. I covered how to compare those options in my guide on how to hire a PPC specialist in Dubai.

Turning a Monthly Budget Into a Daily Budget

Google Ads asks for an average daily budget, not a monthly one. To convert, divide your monthly budget by 30.4.

AED 6,000 ÷ 30.4 = about AED 197 per day.

Don’t panic if one day’s spend comes in higher than that. Google’s own help page explains that a campaign can spend up to twice the average daily budget on a busy day, but across the month you won’t be charged more than 30.4 times your daily budget. So a busy Tuesday is balanced by a quiet Friday.

How I Split the Budget in the First 90 Days

When I take on a new Google Ads account, I don’t spend the full amount the same way every month.

Month 1: Learn and fix

  • Fix conversion tracking first. Every call, form and WhatsApp click needs to be counted.
  • Put 70% to 80% of the budget on high-intent search terms like “dentist near me Al Barsha” or “used Toyota Land Cruiser Sharjah”.
  • Check search terms every few days and add negative keywords to block junk searches.

Month 2: Cut and move

  • Pause keywords and ads that spent money with no leads.
  • Move that budget to the campaigns with the lowest cost per lead.
  • Compare Google’s conversion count with the client’s own list of leads that actually became customers. If Google says 60 leads and your sales team counts 35, plan your budget on 35.

Month 3: Scale what works

  • Raise budgets on winning campaigns by around 15% to 20% at a time, then wait a week before the next increase so smart bidding can adjust.
  • Only test new campaign types, like Performance Max or YouTube, once Search is profitable.

This is the same discipline behind my best result so far, where AED 10,000 in ad spend generated AED 106,000 in revenue. The budget wasn’t huge. The tracking was clean, and the money went where the sales were.

Five Signs Your Google Ads Budget Is Wrong

  1. Campaigns say “Limited by budget” every day and your cost per lead is good. You are leaving customers on the table.
  2. You get fewer than 30 conversions a month on a smart bidding campaign. The system doesn’t have enough data to learn well.
  3. Your team can’t reply to leads within an hour. More budget won’t help until the follow-up is fixed.
  4. You can’t say what a customer is worth. Then you can’t know if any budget is too high or too low.
  5. Most of your spend goes to search terms you’ve never seen. Your budget is fine; your keyword control isn’t.

If two or more of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting a second opinion before you add more money. You can look through my portfolio to see the kind of campaigns I run, or talk to an independent performance marketer in UAE who will look at the numbers with you.

Final Thoughts

There is no magic number for how much to spend on Google Ads in Dubai. Start with the customers you want, work back through your close rate, conversion rate and cost per click, and check the result against what a customer is worth. Spend enough to learn in 30 days, then scale only what is proven.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum budget for Google Ads in Dubai?

Google has no fixed minimum, but for most small businesses in Dubai I suggest at least AED 3,000 per month for one focused Search campaign. Less than that usually doesn’t buy enough clicks for the campaign to learn within a month.

How do I calculate my Google Ads budget?

Divide the number of customers you want by your close rate, then divide by your landing page conversion rate to get the clicks you need. Multiply those clicks by your expected cost per click from Google Keyword Planner. That gives you a monthly budget.

Why did Google Ads spend more than my daily budget?

Google can spend up to twice your average daily budget on a busy day. Across a month, you won’t be charged more than 30.4 times your daily budget, so high and low days balance out.

Should I spend more on Google Ads or Meta Ads in the UAE?

It depends on intent. Google Ads catches people already searching for your service, so it suits clinics, repairs and urgent needs. Meta Ads is better for creating demand with visuals, offers and retargeting. Many UAE businesses do best with both, starting with whichever channel their customers use to search or discover first. If you already run Meta Ads and leads feel expensive, read my post on why CPL is high on Meta Ads in UAE.
